KINSHIP SUPPORT SERVICES
In an effort to keep children with their family, LCC's Kinship Support Services Program (KSSP) provides services to relatives who are raising another family member's children when the parents are absent and/or unable to raise them. Many of these children are living with their relatives as an alternative to foster care. Serving both the children and the relatives who care for them, the program provides:
- Needs assessment
- Case management
- Service planning
- Children’s support and activity groups
- Youth empowerment
- Tutoring
- Social and recreational outings
- Respite care
- Caregiver support groups
- Basic needs assistance
KSSP also works throughout the state to improve the lives of kinship families by speaking at public hearings, testifying before the state and providing technical assistance to other kinship programs from San Bernardino to Sonoma counties.
