James Mann Award Since 1978 Lincoln Child Center has recognized outstanding contributions to the well-being of vulnerable and emotionally troubled children with The James Mann Service Award. The award honors the memory of the enthusiastic Executive Director who, from 1956 to 1975, led Lincoln Child Center in its transition from a traditional orphanage to a nationally respected, multi-service organization for vulnerable and emotionally troubled children and their families. Once again, JP Morgan, invited children from Lincoln Child Center to join their staff in their corporate luxury box at AT&T Park. 15 children were able to attend a Giants game, and for most, it was the first professional game they had attended. This thrilling opportunity, along with the ability to see their heroes out on the field, and feast on all the amazing food they could eat, became the homerun experience that the children at Lincoln will not soon forget. The bus ride home was non-stop chatter about the game and the thank you cards they produced afterward said it all. "I had great time meeting you, thank you for the ball game." Lincoln's coach said that baseball practice went much better the following day as the kids seemed to be completely inspired. Thank you again JP Morgan for your generosity. |
