KID'S CORNER

What makes Lincoln unique?
Lincoln Child Center believes that each child possesses unique strengths, and that these strengths are the key to healing from emotional wounds. In addition to offering traditional educational and therapeutic services, Lincoln uses creative methods such as art, music and sports to help children find their strength.

Lincoln’s Arts Program: The skills encouraged by art – creative problem-solving, the ability to take multiple perspectives, understanding that solutions must change with circumstance – are the very skills needed to succeed academically and socially. Led by Lincoln’s art and music teachers and complimented by guest artists, the arts program includes music, photography, painting, drawing, and sculpting with a focus on helping children express themselves in a positive manner.

Lincoln’s Sports Program: Research shows that children who participate in team sports learn to solve problems without violence, set goals, and see themselves as part of a larger community. Lincoln’s children have the opportunity to participate in football, basketball, baseball and track as a member of a The Lincoln Cheetah’s. The teams compete in a league comprised of other children’s organizations. The focus is on building respect, community and teamwork.

These adjunctive programs aim to increase school engagement, improve relationships between peers, and create a sense of community among all students, staff and families.
